Rhythm of the Rain(슬픈 빗소리)

1962년 11월 릴리스된 이 곡은 돌연 하늘을 쪼개는 듯한 번개와 격렬한 빗소리로 '인트로'되면서 시작되고 있습니다. 1963년 3월 9일에는 미 빌보드 차트에서 3위까지 올랐습니다. 

반세기 이상 시간이 흐르고 있는 가운데서도 세계팬들로부터 여전히 사랑을 받고 있는 불후의 명곡이랄 수 있습니다.

오리지날 곡의 가수는 The Cascades(캐스케이즈)였고, 그후 여러 나라에서 수많은 가수들이 커버곡을 냈습니다.

특히 미국의 포크록 가수 댄 포겔버그(Dan Fogelberg, 1951~2007)가 서정적인 곡조로 커버한 곡이 1990년에 릴리스되어 대히트를 쳐서 대단한 인기를 끌었습니다. 아래 들어 보시지요.

한일중 3국가수 제창 '하나(花: 꽃)'

조용필(赵容弼), 다니무라 신지(谷村新司), 알란 탐(谭咏麟)이 'PAX MUSICA 2004'(2004.11.5, 상하이 실내체육관)에서 '하나(花)'를 열창하고 있다. 

조용필은 아시아권에서는 내노라하는 수퍼스타이고, 다니무라 신지는 대표적인 친중파(親中派) 가수이다. 알란 탐은 홍콩음악계의 라이징 스타로 인기를 얻고 있었으니, 상하이 무대에서 3명 모두 뜨거운 환영과 박수갈채를 받았다. 

이 상하이 무대의 마지막 순서로 보이는데, 이들 3명은,
마치 꽃처럼 피다가 꽃처럼 져버린 장국영(张国荣=장궈룽=Leslie Cheung : 홍콩가요계・영화계를 대표했던 비운의 환타지스타로 2003년 4월 1일 투신자살)을 애도하면서, 다니무라 신지가 작사・작곡한 곡 '하나(花)'를 제창했다.
아주 그럴듯해 보이는 스리 쇼트(three shot)였다. 

평소 한일중 세나라는 서로 앙숙관계로 으르렁거리고 있지만, 역시 음악은 국경을 넘어서 서로 마음을 통하게 하고 있는 것 같다. 마~, 좋은 일 아니겠습니까? 얼싸,띵호아, 스고이!

안소니 홉킨스(Anthony Hopkins, 1937.12.31~) 주연 '디 엣지'(The Edge, 1997) 

알라스카의 고립된 숲속에서 생존하여 살아 나오는 '안소니 홉킨스'의 모험과 사랑을 그린 수작 영화이다.

혹한과 살인곰의 위협 속에서도 생존의 방법을 생각하고 지혜를 짜내 끝내 살아서 돌아오는 '안소니 홉킨스'의 모습이 무척 감동적이다.

아무것도 없는 고립된 숲속에서 무(無)에서 유(有)를 만들어 내는 듯한 그의 행동은, 마치 기발한 창조적인 방식으로 위기를 극복하는 '맥가이버(MacGyver)' 같기도 했고, 고립된 정글에서 단검(短剣) 하나로 살아남는 유격대원 '람보'와 같은 인상을 주기도 했다.       

'안소니 홉킨스'는 또한 훌륭한 심성과 지성과 관대함을 가진 인물로 묘사되고 있다. 그야말로 '미스터 퍼펙트'로 비쳐지는 인물로 나오고 있다.

세계최고의 록(rock) 기타리스트 에릭 클랩튼(Eric Clapton, 1945. 3. 30~)이 연주하고 있는 아래의 기타 연주곡(曲)에서 뿜어져 나오는 정취가, 아무래도 안소니 홉킨스의 이미지와 어느 면에서 신기한 조화를 이루고 있는 둣한 인상이다.

둘다 영국인인 안소니 홉킨스와 에릭 클랩튼에게 경의를 표하여, 에릭 클랩튼의 기타연주곡을 한번 감상해 보고 싶다.
